Instructions Before & After Botulinum Toxin Type A
Before Treatment
- Stop using NSAIDs such as lbruprofen, Naproxen, Vitamine E, Fish oil and Ginko products for 1 week before treatment to avoid bruising
- Stop drinking alcohol for 24 hours before treatment
- Inform your doctor prior to treatment if you have a history of oral herpes infection
After Treatment
- Do not massage, compress or irritate the injection sites for 6-8 hours, such as putting on a hat or a helmet and doing a facial massage
- Cosmetics and face cream can be applied gently. Avoid rubbing the treated area
- Apply a cold compress directly to the area if you have swelling or bruising
- Try to contract muscles that were treated for 1 to 2 hours to allow Botulinum Toxin Type A to penetrate into muscles
- Swelling around injection sites will disappear within 2-3 hous
- Onset will be 2-7 days after treatment and may take up to 1 month to full effect
